The install script detects your platform, downloads the matching build and verifies it before installing.

signature on every upgrade and refuses a build that does not match.

Verifying what you downloaded
The checksums above are read from the signed checksums.txt published with the release, so they are
always those of the current build rather than whatever this page was last edited with.
Comparing against them still means trusting this page and the connection that served it.
The stronger check is the signature: checksums.txt.asc is
an OpenPGP signature over that file, and verifying it proves the checksums came from the
release key rather than from a web server. The verification steps are in the docs.
